Mark Muesse and Mindfulness
Dr. Muesse is an American professor of religious studies. He has written extensively and produced several courses. He is also an expert in Mindfulness.
Dr. Muesse´s course on Mindfulness is very well done. It concisely explains what Mindfulness is, how it can be useful, and how to apply it. Mindfulness is simply taking a moment to stop, slow down, and actually see things as they are.
This is a useful skill to develop in the modern world. We are constantly bombarded with media, information, competing responsibilities, and demands for our time. I agree with the neurologist Richard Restak when he stated that our society suffers from “hurry sickness” and “information overload.”
Two recommendations of works by Dr. Muesse:
Practicing Mindfulness: An Introduction to Meditation (Course, The Great Courses)
Four Wise Men: The Lives and Teachings of Confucius, the Buddha, Jesus, and Muhammad (Book)
