Pilar Sordo

“I would define myself as a pilgrim, a traveler in Latin America…and what I do is… listen to thousands and from there I take these beautiful studies which end up being books and then conferences.” 1

Pilar Sordo is an interesting person with a lot to say. Although not very well known in the United States, she is a famous Chilean psychologist, columnist, author of several books, and speaker. She is clever, perceptive and worth listening to. I feel that if a few translations were made of her books, she would become well known in the United States simply on the merit of her ideas.

There is a weird space between English and Spanish where some of the best books are quickly translated and other books that are incredible are never translated. It is a sort of dead zone that doesn´t accurately reflect the state of intellectual affairs.

What is interesting to me about Pilar is that she decided to share what she knows so openly. Drawing from her own experiences, she just started writing and speaking. This takes a lot of courage. In a similar way, a few years ago she picked up her phone and created her first youtube video. She frequently posts videos on variety of topics related to self-awareness and self-improvement.
