First Heard - Some great piano pieces
I like the idea of “first heard.” This means that when listening to a piece of music you will prefer the first artist’s interpretation that you listened to. When listening to other artists perform the same piece you´ll prefer what you “first heard.” This also means that the other artist’s interpretations aren´t necessarily wrong.
Even when listening to many different versions, what is “first heard” or really first appreciated can seem to be the only interpretation that matters.
Some pieces I like:
Schubert: Four Impromptus, D 935
Alfred Brendel
Mozart: Piano Sonata No.8 in A minor, K.310 - 1. Allegro maestoso
András Schiff
Bach: The Goldberg Variations
Glenn Gould
Beethoven: Piano Concerto No.5 In E Flat Major Op.73 -"Emperor" - 1. Allegro
Hélène Grimaud
